Seasons come and go; such a great reflection of life, the process of being created, planted, pruned and cropped. I find myself in seasons of faith as my physical body continues the circle from birth to death in this world. My faith passes through the fruitful seasons of summer, into colorful seasons of autumn, as well as the crushing and desperate season of winter before being birthed anew and again in spring. While it never seems to become an easier process, it is necessary and welcomed. Seasons come and go, but God’s love remains the same.

This painting came out of a cry for this land in which I live as a foreigner. It is a land like no other I have ever experienced. Tradition is deeply rooted among the people, yet there are so many people and so many differences among the social classes. Time seems to have stood still for many, many years in this land. Will it continue to stand untouched?

We saw these girls in the mountains of Sang Pan. It was the first time that I had come across such simplicity and beauty in the land of China. They stared as our white faces passed them by, loading up in a large bus to head back to the big city. There are bits and pieces from our time out on those trails hidden within this work that remind me of how incredibly beautiful God is. He has blessed us with such a beautiful creation. How much more beautiful it will be one day without sin in heaven!

There are times in my life when I feel like I am wrestling with God like Jacob did all night long. That wrestling is what caused me to try to portray such a scene – fighting and struggling, but doing it knowing that I am in the hands of my Father, safe and secure, and loved. The fight comes because of my own battle, but God wrestles with me in order to help me. It is a sign of his love for me, and I rest in knowing that. Oh, that I would have the strength to keep fighting and not give up. (Gen. 32)
The arts is a broad subdivision of culture, composed of many expressive disciplines. In modern usage, it is a term broader than "art", which usually means the visual arts (comprising both fine art, decorative art, and crafts). The arts encompasses visual arts, performing arts, language arts, and culinary arts. Many artistic disciplines involve aspects of the various arts, so the definitions of these terms overlap to some degree. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arts
Art is ...
Defining Art, has always been a problem. I mean, Art in the broad sense of the Arts, visual, music, film, spoken, etc. The definition of Art is changing at least the way the dictionaries define it. Art is personal, cultural, yet art is universal, timeless and at the core of human thought and expression. Sometimes Art is thought to be either beautiful, suprising, shocking, refreshing, skillful and/or all of those things and much more. Art it seems, has something to do with the process of communicating what is in the heart or soul of a human.
